Today, more than ever before, it is important to protect your identity. An application that protects your identity on the internet is Tor. What Tor does is enables people to be anonymous. When you surf the web using Tor, your requests are directed through different servers so it would be difficult for someone to trace your browsing history back to you. It can also bypass regional blocks so you can access content anonymously no matter where in the world you are located! Tor defaults with a configuration that isn’t ideal for first-time users who want anonymity online. It is easy to change the default so your requests are sent via clearnet. However, it is not as easy to find out how to change the setting. There are ways to change Tor settings though, see the video featured above. However, changing the settings right away could cause you problems if you don’t know what you’re doing or you screw up your configuration. We will show you step-by-step on how to change your Tor configuration properly. To make sure that everything is working properly, please see this video for fast security tests using netstat and traceroute. These steps will work for Tor Browser on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. These step by step instructions will help you change your Tor configuration and make it work better for you. First thing we need to do is open up Tor. Go to: Start –> All Programs –> Accessories –> Command Prompt –> Type: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\TorBrowser\\tor-browser_en-US\\start-tor-browser. exe A black window will appear. This is called Tor Browser. Now, click the help option on the top right corner of the window, next to the little question mark. Please see this related video for more information on how to change your Tor configuration settings: This will open up a new tab. Here, you can see all of your options for using Tor Browser. With these steps, you should be good to go with your new Tor configuration settings! Please remember that it is important to maintain security precautions when using an anonymous browser like Tor, so ensure that you use HTTPS when browsing websites or sending emails. Activate your Adobe Air Desktop App before running this tool to install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. WARNING: We do not recommend that you try to use these steps if you are not experienced with computer configuration. These steps might not work for your computer or operating system, and therefore it is strongly recommended that you use the steps suggested above instead of following these steps. If anyone does decide to follow these steps, please make sure you are using an isolated virtual network with no Internet connectivity at all. Also, make sure your antivirus is not blocking the process of installing Flash Player or any other security software. If it does, uninstall all security software first to see if that helps. cfa1e77820
